It still would not work and Java would not re-install. Will post again when I see what happens. I can open the Add/Remove Programs window, but it is empty, does not show anyhting except one one line of text at the top reading:"Change or Remove programsAdd new programsAdd/Remove Windows regsvr32 mshtml.dll did not work, but the other two links went through with no problem. What type of antivirus software are you running? have a peek here Do you think the same would work for 'windows XP'??

It worked !!!! i also have tried lots of different scans operations in attemting to restore ist function. "NO LUCK" i was reading this forum with great intrest, as my problem with win updates I tried typing "regsvr32 appwiz.cpl" from both the root directory and in the system32 directory but got the same response?? Thanks!
